Trees are usually added to a property because they should add value, and perhaps for you and your family, the trees you have on your property truly do. However, if you are getting ready to put your home up for sale in the real estate market, it is best to take a step back and reconsider those trees that you have on your property and whether or not they should be removed. There are actually some pretty good reasons why removing a tree from your property before you list it for sale would be a good idea.

The tree does not allow the house to be seen from the roadway.

It is not all uncommon for a homeowner to plant a tree so they have a little more privacy between their home and the street. While this can be an advantage, it can also be a stumbling block when you list your home for sale. You may find that many buyers want a home that is visible from the road because they enjoy sprucing up the property for curb appeal or like the idea that the house is easy to see and easy to find. Therefore, if a tree blocks visibility from the road, it may be a good idea to eliminate it. 

The tree is situated too close to the house.

A tree that sits right up on the house can be nice for added shade in the summer, but in the eyes of a buyer, this is most likely not what they will see. They will see the tree as a potential hazard to the house, and that is never a good thing. If there is a tree situated really close to the house, and it is sizeable enough that it could cause damage if it fell, it would be best to have it removed before having the real estate agent take pictures.

The tree could be considered a high-maintenance tree.

Homeowners these days don't really like houses and properties that come with a lot of maintenance requirements because so many people stay so busy with life. Therefore, if you have a tree in the yard that requires more attention than most to stay looking its best, you may actually deter a buyer–even if you find the tree worth the extra hassle. Even though removing the tree would be a simple fix for a buyer, it will be much better to just take the tree out of the equation altogether by removing it yourself.
